BMW's flagship car in its day, the 8 Series (chassis code E31) built between 1989 and 1999 was powered by either a V8 or the silky smooth V12 engine as in this case. Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated ‘M70’ 5.0-litre V12, delivering 296bhp and 332lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.

Equipped with 17" alloys, electronic damper control, sports setting on gearbox, electric sunroof, airconditioning, electric front seats - drivers with  3 setting memory. Electric adjustable steering wheel, cruise control, on board computer, Stereo with boot changer, 4 electric mirrors, central locking operation by key fob, electric mirrors with passenger side auto dipping in reverse gear.

This 850 Ci comes to market after having been with its last custodian, who was a member of the BMW Car Club, for almost 18 years during which time it was extremely well looked with much expenditure at specialists like Munich Legends. A massive history file records in detail the work carried out along with photos. Only 8000 miles were clocked up during this time.

Most recently the front right suspension unit was removed and sent to Poland for specialist overhaul. At this time the headlining was replaced. In 2021 the rear differential was rebuilt with new bearing and seals. The centre prop carrier bearing was also replaced. Munich Legends carried out a check and changed oil and filter at 107,809 miles. Shortly after the plugs, cap and rotor were replaced.

At 104,000 miles Munich Legends replaced some of the sill panels and jacking points. Photographic  record on file. They also replaced front and rear brake pipes and hoses and the fuel pipes. Also changed were the rear radius arm bushes, the centre track rod, upper right front tie bar bush, rear right upper suspension arm and both right and left upper arm inner bushes.

At 102,000 miles BMW Car Sevices replaced the on board computer, replaced 4 rear hydraulic suspension pipes, 2 rear pressure converters, replaced the exhaust from the centre box along with both rear boxes. The A/C was repaired with new receiver dryer and pipes.

Prior to this work being carried out there is a stack of main BMW main dealer invoices dating back to 1996. There are 24 stamps in the service book covering the period 1993-2011 when the car had covered 107,800 miles

To sum up this is an immaculately maintained car that presents in fabulous cosmetic and mechanical condition. Highly original throughout it retains details such as the torch in the glove box, the majority of the small tools including the locking wheel nut along with 3 keys - one with remote fob in working order and complete book pack. There are also 26 old MOT certs from 1997 to the last which expired in October 2023. Car sailed thorough the NCT at the end of January which is now valid to July 2025.

Everthing is working as it should though some pixels have failed on the stereo display and on board computer display. I have not tested the CD multiplayer in the boot.
